Strauch   SOLD Jumbo Ball Winder   This winder makes a very large center-pull ball. One-pound balls can be made! The newly designed Strauch Jumbo Ball Winder uses a ball bearing drive. No oiling or adjusting is needed. A longer counter weight bracket greatly reduces vibration. In addition, the longer 15" base eliminates "knuckle-smacking" while winding. The extra long length table clamp allows the winder it to be clamped to a standard 1½ inch kitchen counter. For those who use a table that does not have a front drop down piece of wood (like you find on a typical dining room table), the clamp can reach further under the table to prevent any wobbling or "flapping" of the ball winder base. This is a change from the original shorter clamp. Each jumbo ball winder is tested to make sure it forms a perfect ball every time. That's why you'll find a small test ball on each and every winder. This unit generates a unique and distinctive diamond-shaped patterned ball as a result of its complex rotation. Two things must happen at the same time in order to wind a perfect ball. The whole drive wheel assembly must rotate as the crank is turned and it must also smoothly revolve on the clear plastic drive cone. Because of this off-center rotation, the ball winder must be clamped to a work surface. It is important not to wind the ball too fast. Petite Belt Drive The Petite is a manual drum carder with a polyurethane drive belt. This carder is part of Strauch's product line specifically for fibre artists who have budget or space considerations but want Strauch quality. The Petite is an excellent choice for a mid-sized carder with full-sized features. The Petite is slightly smaller (6½" wide drums) than the standard chain drive (-3/4" wide) models. As with the chain drive models, the 05 fine cloth (128 psi) on the large drum and "Slicker-Licker" on the small drum is standard. Standard 200 Series Chain Drive   This "middle of the road" Strauch chain drive drum carder for home use also has a 7" diameter x 7-3/4" wide working drum and  produces a batt approximately 7" wide x 22 long. This carder has to be at the edge of the work surface, allowing the crank to clear the table. The Strauch Standard carder now comes with a brush attachment! Choose from three types of carding cloth for your application: 05 Fine -128 teeth /sq.in. Designed to handle ALL fibers. This top of the line model is unique and comes complete with all available features including the Brush Attachment. Having a chain as the drive mechanism provides a constant positive non-slipping action while carding and is far superior to belt drives. The wood frame is ash with a warm honey-oak finish. It has a 7" diameter x 7-3/4" wide working drum and a 2" diameter x 8" wide licker drum producing a batt approximately 7" wide x 22" long. The overall length of the machine is 24" and 11-1/2" wide with a 6" high frame.
